The Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership workshop is a one-day workshop that has been successfully conducted in hundreds of churches and non-profit organizations.
The workshop is designed to assist leaders in the process of identifying and processing inner life issues that are the most frequent cause of friction and dysfunction in their personal life, relationships, and leadership.
As part of the workshop, every participant is provided with an inventory that will identify the unique shape their dark side has taken. The workshop is divided into four sessions:

As a Lead Pastor, Licensed Counselor, and Regional Leader for our denomination, I can think of NO BETTER resource than a workshop with Dr. Sam Rima on Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership. I, like you, have attended many workshops, classes, and conferences on leadership.
However, Dr. Rima’s work uniquely helps us identify and compensate for the dark side of our strengths. In my opinion, everyone involved in leading others should read the book and attending the workshop as a proactive step to overcoming the dark side of leadership before it overcomes them.
-Kent Mankins, Ph.D., Valley Assembly, Spokane, WA
Dr. Sam Rima is a pastor, professor, scholar, and leader of leaders. His book, Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership, is the most helpful leadership resource I've ever read and recommended to others. But the Dark Side workshop is even more impactful because it affords the opportunity to personally interact with Sam. When Dr. Rima led our staff and elders through this workshop, we were captivated by his extraordinary communication gifts, vulnerable authenticity, and practical wisdom.
We were especially blessed by his uncanny ability to spontaneously answer our many questions. Sam is humble, personable, and professionally excellent. He will compassionately expose the root issues that are facing your church or organization and set you on a path of healing and transformation from the inside and out. I believe every leadership team and church would benefit greatly by hosting a Dark Side workshop at least once, if not every year.
-Keith Krell, DMin, Ph.D., Crossroads Bible Church, Bellevue, WA
Our dark side as leaders is heavily guarded territory. Shame, fear, and pride build a formidable defense. This seminar provides a major breach in that wall through which God’s healing grace can enter our lives and continue its transformative work.
Leaders and churches will be blessed significantly by reading Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership and attending this seminar. Discussing this material with other leaders, will intensify the impact in your own life and equip you to help other people be open to similar breakthrough in their lives.
-Rev. Tom Dabasinskas, Principal, OneAccord, Kirkland, WA
Many of today’s apparently successful leaders lead from a deficit – a personal deficit in self-leadership. They may lead others with vision and innovation, while their personal lives are out of control, leading to many potential challenges that could be avoided.
This one-day workshop will guide leaders in identifying their personal values, both actual and aspirational, developing a personal constitution, setting life goals aligned with their values, and measure their motivation to live a truly value-driven life. I will also guide attendees on how to implement essential principles for emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual self-leadership. This workshop will assist leaders in bring congruence to their inner life and their practice of leadership.
This book and workshop “take us to the inner foundations essential for enduring leadership that is able to withstand attacks from without and maintain integrity and equilibrium of the person within.”
-George K. Brushaber, Ph.D., Former President, Bethel University
“Dr. Sam Rima is right on the mark. Practical and compelling, Leading from the Inside Out is great for anyone who wants to get serious about all aspects of personal leadership.”
-Senator John Thune, R South Dakota, United States Senate
This workshop “provides a practical and biblical hands-on resource for assisting all of us to lead our own lives to the glory of God.”
-Gary McIntosh, PhD, Professor, Talbot School of Theology, Biola University
